Dear John(s)

Why do you pick up dying women(and don't kid yourself, they're dying), pay for these acts, prey on this neighbourhood, and support the drug trade in the family mini-van?
I hope there is not a child seat in there.

Makes me start thinking about all the things someone could do with pictures they might have...not that you ever would...of course...
I heard a nasty ad on the WAVE yesterday (I know, I listen to the WAVE - don't tell anyone) about how the downtown shopping district has cleaned off the "local character" or something like that - can't remember the wording exactly. Hrrmph

I've gotta say, of all the kinky sex fetishes/fantasies etc etc out there, I find picking up ill looking hookers the strangest of all.

I may be ranting somewhat, but were I that sexually .... needy, shall we say? I'd be prowling the internet for local chicks that I could bang and not have to worry about (quite as many) diseases or being seen or all sorts of strange things.

Is it the guarantee of anonymity? Is it the thrill? Because I'm sure these women aren't physically attractive and I'm guessing they're not much for conversation or charm so what, really, is in it for the Johns?

Is it sexy paying to sleep with a drug addicted woman? Really? Because I've seen them and I'm not thinking so.

Sigh.

Good god. Even with all the drug deals, zombies, etc that we put up with a few months ago I am so greatful the hookers were not servicing their customers here.

I can just imagine my husband marching out side, banging on the vehicle and not so politely telling them to move on. Maybe with a camera in hand. I know how dangerous that all can be, but he (and a few other neighbours) would have snapped.

Yeah, Victoria, I often wonder too, what the thrill is being with someone so...so...used up(?) You would think with some of the vehicles that show up maybe they could afford some kind of escort service instead of some street junkie.

IS there ANY guarantee of anonymity anywhere anymore? and it is, after all, a public street, a residential street. My friends have kids here. Is it fair to them or to that John's family? Or not fair, but ethical?
Why is ethical so very difficult?

I'm not sure it WOULD matter to a john, if there was a car seat inside. He's right on a public street, it's daylight and he's blatantly picking up a street walker in full view of whoever is driving or walking on by. What does he care?

Uhm, probably not the most appropriate post to make my comment (looked for an email link, but didn't see one) -- but just wanted to thank you for your comment! We're not actually ON Hood Canal, but sort of in the vicinity. We're on Puget Sound (Peale Passage). But, you're right. I certainly hope there's no child seat in that van! Sigh.

My kids had a friend whose dad was arrested picking up a hooker. It made the local papers. It was awful for everyone concerned. It probably isn't necessary that the divorce followed shortly after.
