Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh," he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw, "I just wanted to be sure of you."

the Highest Tide
Hey there all(but especially Hick Chick with all your great recommendations and reviews) ...here is a book I recommend. Not only is it a fine book about growing up on the water, which really is a different life than one growing up on the plains, or on a mountain, or in a desert, it a fine book written lovingly about growing up in my hometown. It's a bonus that it is a great read because initially I bought it for the fact that I knew every place the author talks about in here...When he names a street, I know exactly where he is...when he names a bar, I have had at least one beer there(if not more)...and it was nice to remember some of the better parts of home because I don't always remember it so fondly. Well, that's it for now...the phone just rang and I am off for an adventure. Later.

How cool. I'm waiting for someone to write a book about my hometown. I will definitely have to check it out. Do you know the author?
Jim Lynch, the author is from Olympia, and grew up around the downtown area, though he is a bit older than me...I never met the guy but sometimes I wonder if someone I know knows him...I gave a copy to my sis for her birthday, one to dad for Father's Day...my brother's b'day is October and I will send him a copy...so far, no one I know has said a word about knowing him. We'll see in October if my brother knows him, as they are probably closer to the same age and probably went to the same schools...
I just read some reviews and it sounds good. I love this sort of book so I have stuck it on my holiday reading list. Thanks.
That's so cool to find a book about your home town!
I'll look for it; it's on my list.
I plan to fully embarrass most of the people I grew up with when my latest masterpiece is published!!!! (Are ya ready Biddie???)
oh, I can't wait to read all about you and Biddie... though I am sure you will change the names to protect the innocent, right?
I received this book for Christmas and enjoyed the story immensely. I was delighted to find that you have recommended such a fine book.
