shut up and sing

So some of you know and some of you don't...I had a little phone interview with the paper the other day...about Blogging. Story is out today. I talked about the community of friends I have made, and the looking forward to "seeing" everyone everyday...I talked about dog walks and the pretty pictures of Nanaimo I post. "The Good Stuff." However, that stuff didn't come up, it seems to rest on my neighbourhood posts. "The Bad Stuff." Well, okay, at least maybe someone on Council will read it...realize just how high the frustration levels are down here in the southend, not just on Haliburton street...maybe get some more dialogue going about fixing some things down here.
Positive MAY come from this. Right? And look, Hickchic, they even took a photo of my blahg with Edward! That's cool, right? And besides, once someone actually looks me up, they'll figure it all out, right?

Figure out that I do talk about other things...and sometimes I am funny, no? I take nice pictures and talk about our dogs and the good dog walking spots, and the mountains and seeking grace in a blade of grass or in a crystal of ice, ducks on the pond, eagles overhead...I talk about Morrell Wildlife Sanctuary, Harewood Mines, Piper's Lagoon and Neck Point, Cathedral Grove, Englishman River... any of you tuning in now, this Blahg is more than what you read in the paper today...yes, sometimes I do rant...maybe, you will understand and maybe you won't. But this is my neighbourhood and I have high hopes that it can be exactly what is meant to be...a vital, downtown residential neighbourhood, where we can thrive in our homes, where we can step outside at night for a stroll down to the water without fear or worry...you know, where we can just live...
Thanks for stopping by.

That's typical of the media, but that something good will come from it is well worth hoping for. If any of your visitors take the time to look through your past posts, your words and pictures, they will also see the beauty you have shared with us. I hope you get to stroll down to the water. And take some more pictures for us.

missus, i live on the absolute other end of the country, but sometimes i live in nanaimo, and i love it there. i love the walks that we go on, and the neighbours i've come to know, and the lovely artist that you live with.
nanaimo through your eyes is a peaceful poetic place.
it also suffers the same unfortunate strife that plagues all cities.
if anyone gives you any crap about it, tell them that nanaimo is loved because of you and that awarness is the first step when tacking a problem!!
i'm proud of you and am happy that we are friends.

You know I love you and love the Blahg!

I think it's very good that you had our boy Edward Scissorhands there to represent your artistic tragic hopeful side.

Keep putting the boots to the crime in the neighbourhood. Keep taking us on photo walks with the dogs and swooning over your crush list! How can anybody read any of this and not be impressed with your sensitivity and concern?

Besides if they bad mouth you I'll go all Mennonite on them andask them how they feel about the hurtful remarks while I fill them with potato salad. That'll learn 'em.

Oh and also what Cara said!!

That is super cool Dilling, really! Of course the people reading will understand there is way more to the blog than a rant about your neighborhood (that they really ought to do something about). Yours is a beautiful blog.

Don't you owe me a picture of a cabin? :-)

It's BECAUSE you care, are sensitive to the tiniest details in life (your photos speak a thousand words), rescue animals, have close and caring friends (within the blogging community, too) and get such a charge out of being on this planet, that you are concerned for your neighbours and your neighbourhood. Nanaimo needs another few thousand people just like you.
