ouch

It's going to cost 3/4 of what I bought the car for to get it fixed....and though I don't know if it's worth it, I couldn't possibly buy another car that won't have the very same issues....cuz that's about all that is affordable to us right now, given our situation...of course, we could spend all this money, get the car back and something else could break the very next day. Argh.

Try calling the automotive shop at Malaspina. They get a good deal on parts because they are a school and only charge a small shop fee -$20 - $40 last time I went. They will have your car for at least a week, but what the hell. I've had lots of work done there and it's always been great. 740-6453

Olly, they're already working on it at the shop but I will keep it in mind...cuz you know, it'll happen again....

We've been in that position. Cars are an insatiable money pit!!!

Of course, those big draft horses go through a lot of hay... and make really big poops...

Oh sorry - how frustrating. That happened to me once - I did not have good results - after spending much to repair vehicle - it just quit working at all and there I was - I spent a nice downpayment for a newer car with less miles on the old one with so many problems. Good luck.

There's always something trying to suck the cash from our bank accounts. Sometimes I think cavemen had it easy.

increase the insurance, get someone to steal and burn it and claim. Then get a better car.

Don't get caught though... ;-)

That sucks, Dilling. It's one of the reasons that we don't have car right now..Huge money pits.
I think Olly has a great idea - if it should happen again.

Heidi...I don't mind shovelling horse poop...and I probably only need the one horse.
Gardenia...it's the monthly payments we can't cover right now.
Tod...cavemen? Mmmmmnnnn, no thanks.
msp...subversive as ever, I see!
CindyDianne...I wish I still had the car I had as a teenager, best car I ever had! Seriously.
Biddie...it's a needed expense here, sadly, at least for now. We could never get by on our transit system here or take the dog anywhere, and taxis here are criminally expensive!!!
