We went into Osoyoos for a quick tour of the town. It is quite stunning. We both fell quite head over heels for it and looked at the houses and properties around there...but it is a wine town and we are beer people. On to Oliver, where we stopped to make coffee in the park...and then headed off to have lunch with Michael's brother and uncle at a little place with good beer...and presumably great wine.
Out of Oliver, the climb into the mountains starts almost immediately...the Kootenay mountains. It's wicked switchbacks and hair-raising drops along the roadside...but the views are stunning. This is looking back over Oliver and Osoyoos.
Who wouldn't want this as the return address on your letters? I wonder how many times the powers that be have had to replace this sign...

Couldn't resist.
The campground we intended to stay at was full. Not a big loss as it was a really large campground and if it was full, then that would have been WAY too many people for me. Further on down the road, we stumbled onto this little place...only sixteen sites in all and only about four of them taken. Our site backed up to the river and that's the sound we went to sleep with in our little orange pop-top tent.
(btw...one mouse less in the house, er, on this mortal coil, actually...only one? Holy cripes...I think I just now heard another trap spring....maybe two, eh? )

i want to go camping one last time with little miss sunshine this year. think it'll happen?
Great pics as usual. I love the sasquatch one! Hee Hee! And I think your little orange camper is so cute.
Oh, and I gotta have one of them there bubble domes for my house roof. It is so retro!
Loved the Sasquatch pose! Such an interesting part of the province to see, eh? I could certainly live in the Kootenays. I grew up on the prairies so I find our grey winters a little hard to take.
Too bad about the mice though. Natures squatters. How did Fishbone let this happen?
thank you for sharing your trip, i love it so far, would just love a little camper van and be able to go go go
Great photos. It looks like you had a real live adventure...Honestly, I really do have to make it out west one of these days. It's breathtaking.
Good luck with the mice..yucky.
hahaha. love the pic of you and the sasquatch.
I, too, loved the picture of you and Sasquatch. Uh! Which one is you?
- you went to Hedley!!!! I gotta go to that town some day. My kind of place.
-Also I have a little crush on the namesake band's bass player. I think you might already know that.
-i'd be tempted to take that road sign. Jethro has to always wear shoes when we go camping, with them big feet...
-I love it that you are looking at future potential homes from a wine country/ beer country perspective
-had no idea that there's a desert in BC!!!
-You guys know how to party.
