* Paul Newman had a soft spot for underdogs in real life, giving tens of millions to charities through his food company and setting up camps for severely ill children. Passionately opposed to the Vietnam War, and in favor of civil rights, he was so famously liberal that he ended up on President Nixon's "enemies list," one of the actor's proudest achievements, he liked to say.

and he was so damn hot... ;)
that, too
yes, indeed
I thought I was prepared for the losses that come with aging, but I never even considered that I would run out of heroes
Just knowing he was alive made me feel better about the world
Great shot. I agree with the hot factor. *nods head enthusiastically*
He was an all time great, larger than life, wonderful person - a loss for sure - I somehow always saw him as ageless - -
I am going to miss him. It was always good to see him the last few years, and think "oh good, he's still up and at it, still doing good in the world, and still gorgeous."
I love it that he was married for 50 years.
He'll be missed.
Even though I heard he was so sick, it was hard to take the news. He spoke so highly of leading an honest, decent and charitable life and set such a great example. Looking forward to many of his movies airing over the next while.
He was the epitome of a great 100% MAN. And I do mean MAN. Whoa. Even in his 80s he exuded such handsomeness, intelligence — and sexuality! Mmm. What a wonderful role model.
And those eyes...
